Intended Audience
Match Phonics is an introduction for toddlers to the phonetic sounds of the hard consonants and short vowels . It exposes these youngsters to phonetic beginning sounds of easily recognized words. It should be used for preparing youngsters to read.

For Parents
Match Phonics provides an entertaining learning experience with colorful images and crisp letters. Youngsters match over 50 images to beginning letter sounds.

The Game
When the game begins, 4 letters and 4 images are presented on the screen for matching. When the youngster recognizes the image, they use their fingers to draw a line from the letter of the beginning sound of the image to the matching image. If a correct match is chosen, the youngster is rewarded with a whimsical animation. If a incorrect match is chosen, the youngster is gently encouraged to try again. As the youngster chooses matching beginning letters and images, those selections are eliminated from the choices. When all the items are matched, the youngster shakes the iphone or ipad slightly to obtain a new set of letters and images. What fun they have shaking and matching the phonetic sounds of the first letter of a image with the corresponding letter. This activity helps youngsters to sound out words for later reading.
